As a college student, I have to express the joy of summertime. Having just completed my last final of the school year I can’t express in words how excited for summer I am. Nothing beats a good Seattle summer. Warm weather, swimming, boats, great hiking and camping spots, and bonfires are all in my foreseeable future. In celebration of summer here’s a song by Sublime (who will be playing in concert at marymoor park next month).

Musician Austin Jenckes

Austin is easily one of my favorite upcoming artists in the greater Seattle area. I may be a little biased as we did go to High School together. But you can judge for yourself. Take a listen, and if you like it then check out his facebook page here.

He’ll be playing a show in Issaquah on June 11, and another in Kirkland on the 18th.

Rain

The rain in Seattle is unlike rain from other places in the world. In Seattle, there’s a constant mist, intermingled with spurts of droplets the size of marbles. But those spurts don’t usually last long, and just as common as the downpours are the moments of sheer brilliance. When the sun breaks through the clouds and makes the city glow. It’s instances like these when it’s no wonder Seattle is known as the Emerald City. Though the rain may take it’s toll on you, and at times it seems like it will never end, it’s moments when sun beams pour out from behind the clouds that make dealing with the rain worth it. After all, without the bad, the good wouldn’t be nearly so beautiful.
